Have you ever dreamt about visiting the Caribbean Sea? Do you think it is impossible? Do you think you do not have enough money, and never will? So, let me tell you: You are wrong!
San Andrés is your solution! It is located near Colombia, and is considered a coral island and part of the Caribbean Sea. It is known as the Sea of Seven Colors because of the range of shades caused by the coral reefs, which make us see from a deep green to a transparent aqua blue in the same area.
There are several places to visit in the island. Let´s talk about some of them:
Spratt Bight
It is also called Peatonal. It is located in the northern part of the island, and you can find everything around it (including Wi-Fi connection). There are plenty of different stores, like clothing stores, drugstores, supermarkets, and places to eat. It is awesome!
It is one of the nicest places to visit! Despite being very simple (it only has one slide and one springboard), the abundance of fish you can find there is astonishing. You only have to pay 4,000 Colombian pesos to enjoy it, and you get a loaf of bread to throw in the water and attract the fish. You can also rent a life vest for 5,000 Colombian pesos (which is necessary if you cannot swim, because it is deep). Jumping into water using the springboard or going down the stairs allows you to swim with all the fish around you, it is amazing!
It is an outlying area, so there are not so many tourists. It is a very calm, quiet and relaxing place. You can go by taxi, but you can also take a bus for only 2,200 Colombian pesos. You can get there in about 30 minutes from the main beach.
To get there, you have to pay for a boat (around 15,000 Colombian pesos). You will have a limited time to spend in the island, but you must do it! It is just unbelievable! You can see with your own eyes the sea changing its color when you are on the boat. When you get to the island, you will be able to enjoy different views (like the photos show).
During the same tour, you can get to a near island walking – it is called
Haines Cay.
General curiosities:
Although the city is very simple, the beaches are incredibly beautiful!
You can pay with their local currency, the Colombian Peso, but some
places accept dollars too.
You can rent a car, golf carts or mules (a kind of vehicle) to get around
the island.
The language you will hear more is Spanish; however, you can also hear
English and Creole.
There are plenty of hotels, hostels and inns to choose from.
Buses and taxis are not expensive at all.
There are many souvenir shops with really good prices all around the
island.
It might be necessary for you to buy neoprene shoes because of the kind
of sand you will find at some beaches. It is like lots of little stones, which
can hurt your feet.
You can find different types of food, but most of them are similar to the
Brazilian ones. So you can eat fish, chicken, fast food, ceviche or sea
food. Watch out: They usually put fried banana on their dishes.
It was a fascinating trip, such a dream come true. There are not words that could explain what you feel when you see that sea, the colors, how amazing nature can be, so I can only say:

Você já sonhou em conhecer o mar caribenho? Você acha que é impossível? Acha que não tem dinheiro suficiente e que nunca terá? Bom, deixa eu te contar uma coisa: você está errado!
San Andrés é a solução! Localizada próximo à Colômbia é considerada uma ilha de corais parte do mar do Caribe. É conhecido como Mar de Sete Cores pela mistura de tonalidades causada pelos recifes de corais que nos possibilitam ver do verde-escuro ao azul-piscina transparente em uma mesma área.
Há inúmeros lugares para visitar na ilha, vamos falar um pouco sobre alguns:
Também chamada de Peatonal, está localizada ao norte da ilha, tudo pode ser encontrado aqui (o que inclui acesso à Internet). Muitos tipos diferentes de lojas podem ser encontrados por lá, como lojas de roupa, farmácias, supermercados e lugares para comer. Uma maravilha!
É um dos melhores lugares para visitar! Trata-se de uma piscina natural com estrutura bem simples, contando com um escorregador e um trampolim apenas, mas que possui como diferencial a quantidade exorbitante de peixes que você encontra lá. Você só paga 4.000 pesos colombianos para entrar e recebe um pedaço de pão para jogar na água a fim de atraí-los. Pode também alugar um colete salva-vidas por 5.000 pesos colombianos (o que se torna necessário se você não sabe nadar, afinal é fundo). Pular na água do trampolim ou descer as escadas permitem que você nade com os peixes ao seu redor, é incrível!
Fica em uma área afastada, portanto não há tantos turistas. Trata-se de um lugar calmo, silencioso e relaxante. Pode-se ir de táxi, mas também existe a opção de ir de ônibus por apenas 2.200 pesos colombianos, você consegue chegar em aproximadamente 30 minutos da praia principal.
Para chegar, é preciso ir de barco (por cerca de 15.000 pesos), porém haverá um tempo limitado para você ficar na ilha. Mas você precisa fazer esse
passeio! É simplesmente inacreditável! Você poderá ver com os próprios olhos as mudanças de cor do mar enquanto está no barco. Ao chegar à ilha você será capaz de ver diferentes paisagens (como mostram as fotos).
No mesmo passeio você pode atravessar andando para um ilha próxima, que chamam de "Haines Cay".
Curiosidades gerais:
Mesmo que a cidade seja bem simples, as praias são incrivelmente lindas!;
Pode-se usar a moeda local deles, peso colombiano, mas alguns lugares aceitam dólar também;
Você pode alugar um carro, carrinho de golfe ou mula (um tipo de veículo) para dar uma volta na ilha;
O idioma que você escutará mais será o espanhol, mas também poderá ouvir inglês e a linguagem crioula deles.
Há muitos hotéis, "hostels" e pousadas para escolher;
Ônibus e táxis não são caros;
Há muitas lojas de lembrancinhas com ótimos preços espalhadas por toda a ilha;
Sapatilhas de neoprene podem ser necessárias devido o tipo de areia encontrada em algumas praias, algo como pequenas pedras que podem machucar os pés;
Podem ser encontrados diferentes tipos de comida, mas a grande maioria é parecida com a comida brasileira. Logo você poderá comer peixe, frango, lanches, ceviche ou frutos do mar. Atenção: eles costumam colocar banana frita nos pratos.
